The Foundation will focus on bringing happiness to children and their families through 3 key initiatives. These initiatives have been driven by the experiences John and Justine have personally encountered:

  • whilst becoming new parents within their local community;
  • as parents to a sick child hospitalised at length in a children's hospital; and
  • as parents trying to learn the ropes to successfully raising a growing family

Olivia left this world as a baby, a daughter and a little sister. John and Justine were looking forward to Olivia getting better so she, and they, could leave the hospital behind and Olivia could get on with life - crawling, walking, talking, playing, making friends. This was not to be. Through her sickness and passing, she gave her parents a parting gift - a different set of glasses to view the world through. What John and Justine saw, was an inspiration.

They saw a local community supporting children and families with public play facilities providing equal access for all, irrespective of ability, enabling children and families from all calls of life to socialise together and enjoy the freedom of the outdoors, in a safe, friendly environment.

They saw sick children at play outside, taking a break from their hospital bed, enjoying the thrills and excitement of swinging in the breeze on their specially designed play equipment. And they saw extensive medical research and globally published papers about rare medical conditions, such as the one suffered by Olivia, readily accessible by medical specialists and the families with children suffering similar fates.

They saw innovative programs specifically designed for children in their formative years being offered to parents, carers, teachers and other child care workers resulting in an immense improvement in childhood behavioural issues and reducing the incidence of many social challenges faced by children as they move towards adolescence and adulthood.

They saw... Olivia's touch.

The story behind the logo

The butterfly, which is the central part of the Foundations' logo, is symbolic of new life.
Within the wings of the butterfly are Olivia's actual handprints, symbolising that we are extending Olivia's touch to hundreds and thousands of people through our work.
