Livvi's Place, Timbrell Park
Five Dock NSW

An initiative of the Touched by Olivia Foundation (TBOF), Livvi’s Place, Timbrell Park is a community development initiative to construct a world’s first all abilities playground and create a ‘level playing field’ for children with special needs. The Livvi’s Place playground aims to dramatically reduce the barriers experienced by children with special needs, thereby giving them a level playing field for life.

The design of Livvi’s Place, Timbrell Park is already being heralded as one of global best practice and was created in consultation with leading playground experts, disability specialists, architects, playground and early childhood academics

This park will be unique in the fact that children, regardles of their ability, will be able to play side by side. It has also incorporated aspects which address the needs of children with spectrum disorders.

Touched By Olivia Foundation has partnered with Leighton Contractors and City of Canada Bay Council in this project. We would also like to thank those companies that have sponsored a piece of playground equipment, including:

  • Geekdom who have sponsored the 4.8 metre Powered carousel - the first of its kind in Australia

The total cost for this innovative playground is $AU1Million. Over $250,000 has already been raised by the Touched By Olivia Foundation, a further $150,000 is being provided by the City of Canada Bay Council with works to the value of $160,000 being provided by Leightons Contractors Pty Ltd. Further sponsorship is being sought to complete the project.

We still have fantastic pieces of equipment that you can sponsor and leave your lasting legacy including:

  • The soft fall rubber
  • Bird’s nest swing
  • Tandem bull rider
  • 6 metre Activity climbing net
  • 3 metre Sway bridge
  • 3 metre wobble walk
  • Double width all abilities slippery slide
  • Special all abilities ramp to slide

It is anticipated that the proposed new playground at Timbrell Park will be completed by November 2009

Touched By Olivia brought a range of stakeholders and experts together to consult on the development of this park. The committee has truly done an outstanding job, facilitated by Ben Richards from City of Canada Bay Council.
